One of the many aspects I love about Humanist Weddings is that couples have the freedom to tie the knot wherever they like – whether that’s in a Scottish Castle, your back garden, or a boutique hotel. Gillian and Mark wanted to share their wedding with family and close friends so chose to have their ceremony at the very chic Devonshire Gardens in Glasgow’s West End and it was a wonderfully happy day with lots of laughter.
One of the great things about venues such as Devonshire Gardens is that they create such an intimate atmosphere – and not just for the couple – your guests really feel special and very much part of the day.
There are lots of ways that you can involve your guests in your Humanist ceremony and Gillian and Mark chose to do something particularly lovely – as we brought the ceremony to a close we asked their guests to give our newlyweds some words of advice – based on their own experience – as they prepared to embark on married life together. It resulted in some beautiful heartfelt words…and of course lots of laughter too, so thanks to the guest for their excellent input ! It which was a lovely touch and was very much in keeping with the intimate atmosphere Gillian and Mark wanted.
Oh and I should also say thanks to Mark’s sons’s (his best men) who were fortunately very happy to hold the bridal flowers while Gillian and Mark signed and her bridesmaid witnessed the marriage schedule !
And we had some other very special guests attending too – who were also kitted out in their made to measure kilts !
And I am stealing this idea when I get married (again!)… I wish I’d thought of this ! Thanks to Gillian and Mark for being wonderful to work with and letting me be part of their special day.
